TYPES OF BRACES
Braces are dental tools that treat abnormalities with your teeth such as crowding, crooked teeth, and out-of-alignment teeth. Braces are commonly worn by teenagers, however they are also worn by adults. Braces gradually straighten and align your teeth so that you have a normal bite as you wear them. Some people wear braces to straighten their smile.
Standard Braces
Metal braces are made of high-quality, durable stainless steel. They are the most common type of braces. The brackets, which are bonded to the front of each tooth, are connected by the archwire, which helps guide the teeth into the correct positions. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive.
Clear Braces
Clear or Ceramic braces work the same way the metal ones do, with the exception of being clear. If you do not like the look of metal braces, these ceramic braces are a great option. The brackets blend in with your teeth and clear elastics are used. The only visible element is the thin orthodontic wire. Clear brackets are available for the top teeth and are popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal.
Invisalign Braces
Invisalign is a different method to straighten the teeth. Instead of a network of wires and brackets, Invisalign moves teeth using a series of clear, removable plastic trays called aligners. Invisalign aligners fit directly over the teeth, are smooth to the touch, and are made from a transparent plastic material. Each set of trays are worn for one week . You will take your aligners out to eat, which means you won’t have the dietary restrictions that come with braces. You will also take them out to brush and floss, making oral hygiene easy without supplementary tools like floss threaders.
